Moscato is an ancient grape type that has been grown in Sardinia since before the Roman Empire. This vine is found in almost all of the wine-growing areas of the Mediterranean; in Sardinia, it is cultivated mainly in the well-exposed, chalky soils of Campidano di Cagliari.
The traditional bush-trained vineyards and the low yield per hectare - together with the exposure of the dry, chalky soils - give the wine a wide-ranging complexity. The warm, golden-amber colour is complemented by the bouquet, in which hints of honey, almonds, figs, apricot jam and cooked must come to the fore. Exquisitely sweet, warm and extraordinarily smooth, it envelopes the palate.
