Nuragus remains the most widely cultivated white grape in Sardinia.
The Nuragus vine is most often found in the provinces of Cagliari and Oristano.
The reason why cultivation of this grape is so widespread is due to its huskiness, to its adaptability to all types of soil and, above all, to its generous yield. Nuragus grapes produce a wine of medium alcohol level, with a delicate straw-yellow colour (occasionally with a faint greenish tint), a bouquet redolent of white flowers, green apple and citrus notes, and a pleasantly fresh palate. Nuragus di Cagliari has been a Controlled Denomination of Origin (DOC) wine since way back in 1975.
